Creating a personal magazine as an original gift

Forget the classic gift — a personalised magazine is a personal and truly special present. In it, you bring together someone's stories, best photos and absolute highlights into a magazine with a genuinely glossy feel, something you won't find in any shop. Think of a look back at an anniversary year, a photo-filled declaration of love, or a funny "roast" edition for that friend who can take anything. Incredibly fun to make, and even more fun to give: the recipient enjoys every page, recognises themselves in the anecdotes, and feels like a real cover star for a moment.

How many people can I include in one image?

The number of people you can include depends on the selected artistic filter. Some filters are designed for a single person, while filters that combine several people can include up to ten people in one image.
For filters focusing on one person, a clear portrait showing the subject from the shoulders up generally produces the best result. When combining several people, keep in mind that adding more faces can make smaller details less precise.

Which photos should I use when combining several people?

For the most natural result, upload clear, well-lit photos in which each person is clearly visible. Images with similar framing and viewing angles generally work best.
If an uploaded photo only shows someone’s face or head, the tool will estimate the rest of their body and its proportions. It may also be unable to determine someone’s actual height or accurately reproduce height differences between people. The final composition can therefore differ from their appearance and proportions in real life.

Can I upload a picture of my pet?

Yes! Try it out and see just how adorable your pet looks with an artistic filter!

Does a photo of any age work?

Yes. Photos of babies, children, adults and older people can all be transformed with artistic filters. The result depends on the selected style and the original photo. Keep in mind that some filters may interpret facial features differently, which means that a baby can sometimes appear older in the transformed image.

What makes a photo work really well?

Bright, sharp portraits with natural light create the most magical results. A calm background helps your face pop, and eyes that are clearly visible make a huge difference. Glasses are also no issue!

Are my transformed photos saved?

While you are exploring the artistic filters, your transformed images remain visible so you can compare the results and choose your favourite. Once you select an image, it is automatically added to the Creator, where you can continue personalising your product.
Any unselected creations will disappear when you close the pop-up or switch to another product or image. To avoid losing your favourite result, add it to the Creator and save your design before leaving.

Oops! My photo didn’t upload – why?

Your image may exceed the permitted file size or dimensions. Make sure the file is smaller than 20 MB and does not exceed 7000 × 7000 pixels.

Everything you need to know about artistic filters

What are artistic filters and how do they work?

Artistic filters are creative effects in an online photo editor that transform an uploaded photo into a completely new visual style. They can turn a portrait into an illustration, painting, line drawing, playful pattern or imaginative composition in just a few moments.
Using an artistic filter is easy. Upload a suitable photo, select your favourite style and preview the transformed image. No design experience is required. Once you are happy with the result, add it to the Creator and use it to personalise your chosen product.

What is the difference between an artistic filter and a standard photo filter?

A standard photo filter mainly adjusts elements such as colour, brightness and contrast. An artistic filter goes a step further by reinterpreting the overall appearance of the photo. Depending on the selected filter, it can change the illustration style, create a new composition, repeat part of the image as a pattern or combine people from several photos.
The final result is inspired by the original photo but may differ slightly in facial features, proportions and smaller details. Each transformation is therefore unique.

Can I use artistic filters to create personalised gifts?

Yes. Once you have selected your favourite transformed image, you can use it to personalise a wide range of gifts and photo products. Depending on the filter, your creation can be added to products such as mugs, clothing, bags, cards, blankets and wall decoration.
Whether you are creating something for a friend, family member, colleague or yourself, artistic filters offer an easy way to turn an everyday photo into an original and personal gift. The available products may vary for each filter.

Which artistic filters can I choose from?

Our collection includes a wide and growing variety of artistic filters. Whether you prefer a subtle illustration, a famous painting style, a playful character or an imaginative new composition, there are plenty of creative possibilities to explore.

Illustration and portrait styles
Transform a selfie or portrait with styles such as 3D Animation, Soft Illustration, Line Drawing, Glam or Caricature. These filters can give your photo anything from a gentle hand-drawn appearance to a bold and playful new look.

Painting-inspired styles
Turn your photo into a work of art with watercolour effects and styles inspired by different artistic movements, painters and decorative patterns.

Fantasy and character styles
Reimagine yourself or someone you love as a royal figure, fairy, knight, unicorn character, witch or another imaginative personality.

Playful photo effects and compositions
Create a Photobooth Strip, repeat a favourite face with Face Pattern or use Merged Photos to bring people from different pictures together in one composition.

Seasonal and family themes
Discover styles inspired by Christmas, love, birth, nursery themes and other special moments throughout the year.

The available filters can vary depending on the product you are personalising, and new artistic filters and themed styles may be added over time.
